What you've described seems like one of the major existing use cases of Myspace and Facebook. The fact that they're explicitly not dating sites makes them much better for actual dating.

I'm wondering how they are defining “introduction”. I would not consider simply meeting a friend-of-a-friend an “introduction”.

Mark: I'm glad you abandoned the idea of a “dating dashboard”. Managing dating profiles is a low value problem. As a startup, you need to take a crack at a high value problem.

Neither Facebook, nor MySpace or any other social network have succeeded in this (not even plentyoffish). It's also interesting that no “matchmaking” FB apps ever reached critical mass. I think you should do some research into this and find out exactly why. Spend more time talking to people and less time coding. This isn't a technology problem.

Eh…i've known just as many friendships to be wrecked by matchups that work out poorly. Dating someone is very different than just being friends with them, so someone's friend might not know things about a person you learn from dating them.
